The astronomical clock at the Town Hall of Ulm (the town where was born Albert Einstein) is a masterpiece of mediaeval horology. Constructed in 1581 by the principal clockmaker of the times, Isaak Habrecht of Strasburg, the magnificent and detailed design of the zodiac, the clock hand and clock face are really impressive. However, on second glance, the clock impresses even more by the way it functions and the multitude of information it can provide. At least 15 different astronomical data and events can be read, assuming the observer understands how to interpret the position of the hands and the zodiac.
