Montana is called "Big Sky Country". As it turns out, the sky is exactly the same size in Montana as it is everywhere else. The difference appears to be the wonderful cloud formations. This one was taken on Flathead Lake just outside of Ronan. Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.

Roger, thanks for both another excellent contribution of this series and for the explanation about the wonderful Montana cloud formations.
Your capture makes the by you described natural phenomenon very clear. The cloud reflections, seen at Flathead Lake, are a bonus!

I'm also guessing that that skies are clearer in Montana than in urban areas making it seem as if they are bigger. This is quite spectacular!
