I'd like some honest input into this frame. I spent a long time on not this one, but one that was much more complicated and discarded it more than once, then ended up back to a milder and gentler backdrop...The colors in the lake and the greens are very true because it was taken at about 7 pm when the light was low and it had just rained not too long ago..about 3 weeks in the past when things were still at their freshest, spring green. I know someone will notice, so I will comment, that the dark spots you see on the water were millions of bugs. I didn't realize they had shown up until I uploaded the pic.

WOW...I love that framing, I've not seen that before, and it really complements the image. I adore the picture, the colours are wonderful, and it is excellent the way you have captured that impressive reflection of the clouds...a true mirror image...great post...Jacquie

PJ, I really love this one. I've never seen an effect like that before. The green tree's are gorgeous. My upload the other night, Solid 14K Gold, was my first attempt at a paint program, but I will never be able to do anything this good. I truly think this is a great post. Terry

well, you wanted an honest opinion, so heres mine...when i look at the pic as an overall thing, its very attractive, its clever how you did the frame, however, looking at the actual photo itself, i would say it is one of your best and thus is lost in the framing, id like do see it with slightly less framing so i can see the gorgeous shot without the distraction . those clouds reflected in the lake are gorgeous and fluffy, i like the bugs on the water and i like the row of grasses at the front, the saturation of colour is beautiful! thats my opinion for what its worth anyway!

I think that the image is absolutely great and so is your mastery of making the frame, but I think the beauty of the photo is given too much competition from the frame. I can see that you spent some time working on this and the idea is very creative. That background looks like frosted glass and I like it. In fact, I think I agree with Jan on the quality of this wonderful photo. The lake reflections of the clouds are perfect and the colors are deep. Coincidently, there is a Streeter Pond a few miles from me!

Beautiful greens, terrific reflection. Great image that would stand alone. The frame is a different tone and the lines don't distract from the image. The image might be competing for enough space, but I like it.

It is a wondefully created frame and compliments the photo very well - if you want a frame. Personally I think the image itself is outstanding and needs no enhancement.
BUT I put it on my desktop and I like having my icons on the frame bit :)

Jan, cynlee, and I all agree. This shot is absolutely gorgeous! It just seems overpowered by the frame. I know you spens a lot of time on the frame and it looks good. I just think that the frame is supposed to do just that, frame the picture. Help put the viewers eyes on the focal point. This frame begs the eyes to look at it and not the shot. Personally, I would expand the shot left and right, removing those sides of the frame. I'd leave the top and bottom parts of the frame effectively centering the shot. Those fluffy sweet confections in the water should stand out for what they are. This shot is beautiful PJ. Bugs and all.

Okay, here's my humble opinion...I absolutely love the photo, the clarity, the mirror reflection of the puffy clouds, the jewel tones of the foregound plants and the background trees. But I'm not fond of the frame. I agree with some of the others that the frame overpowers an awesome shot. I think if you used the same crop and put a simple black frame around it, it would be perfect!

Hey Wait! I didn't have my turn yet. I like it :) Since you asked....:).... I really like the frame, but I think that less of it would be better. It appears to occupy more space I think is what throws me off. The other suggestion would be to reverse your bevel on the picture. Well you asked. LOL. And it is all extremely well done.

Here's my 3 cents, Peej...I think the framing is very creative and definitely well executed, but for me, personally, I want to see more of the actual image. I think the image is spectacular with the vibrant greens and the amazing reflections in the water. I don't think the framing takes away from the image necessarily, but takes your focus away from it...and it also took me a moment to notice that the framing is actually a manipulated extension of the image too. My thoughts may be a bit late, but there they are...I do want to add that I'm so glad you tried something 'out of the ordinary'. Its much harder and worth more to put something out there that's not in line with every other image on here.
