You don't need to go any closer PJ. It looks fine as it is. The purple colour of the flower shows off well against the green.

well PJ if this is cropped then the whole photograph was excellently captured and perfectly in focus! No loss with the cropping has occurred from what I can see! The colour of the single thistle head is beautiful against the dark green!

I like how you kept the flower offset a little to the right. All the green in the background really frames the purple thistle really well. Another good one!!

i had a nasty experience with a scotch thistle when trying to take a photo recently titled "stuck on you" in my gallery ...

they really hurt. good thing to be caucious like you were. any way nice shot, nice and clear with great contrasting colours
