My first ever duck, so treat it kindly, as you would your own. :) I've never seen one with a green bill before, perhaps some bird afficionado out there can help me out with this one. This lovely was found on Lake Winnipesaukee.

What a close-up this is!. I saw a green billed duck for the first time last Sunday and was just amazed. You've certainly captured its beauty.Looks great!

nice close up. if it weren't for the green bill, i would say you have a female mallard, but that throws things completely out of kilter. i just don't know about that green bill.

A great first duck snap. Love the fact that you can see beneath the water to the bottom. It gives the snap more depth and a sense of place, you've captured an interesting moment and of course a very cooperative duck, lol.

The female American Black Duck has an olive green bill and looks very similar to your lovely duck.

Very nice! I like the water pushing out in front of her, and the fact that you avoided any glare, allowing us to see her feet and the stones on the bottom. Well done!

"Billy" Green is really "Billie Jean" Green :) This is a female mallard. It is different than the black duck in a few ways, but the main one I can see from this is the white tail, which the black duck does not have. Nice shot of this pretty little lady, PJ. Nice to see you breaking into birds :)

Goodness, another three pages of comments that I'll heap my duck ID on. Looks to me like you've got a drake mallard in molt there. Drakes will have green bills and hens will have orange bills.
