This was one of the finest days that could have been picked for this TRIP. I figured I might as well show you the best of the best before I gave you some of my other observations of this powerful place. If you're ever in the area, it's so worth the looksee and the sheer force of nature overwhelms you as you view this stripped down version of our earth....28 years since the initial blasts and still it looks like a wasteland. The MOTORING up was encouraging as to Nature's reclaimation, but the actual site was like a view from another planet. :)PJ

I get to comment first. Imagine that. Wow spelled backwards is still Wow!! Any way you look at this photo it is wow. I especially like the cloud and its shadow. Not to often you see that from above the cloud. I like the earthen tones and how they are offset by the clouds and the blue sky. Mount St. Helens finishes off this masterpiece. You have got my head in the clouds PJ. Great post.

What a rugged and beautiful landscape. I drove through that countryside several years ago. It's amazing how those volcanic peaks loom above all the other mountains. Nice photo.

Wow..best of the best indeed. Definitely looks like a perfect day; I really like the lighting created by the few clouds. Great detail and depth. This will be a really interesting contrast if you're going to show whats left of the devastation from the eruption. Nicely done, Peej!!

What a shot. What contrast between the calm weather in the shot compared to the turmoil during and after the eruption. Looks like a few little guys are trying to grow out at the base, don't it.

What a volcano!! Scarey. But a necessary photo for sure. Great vantage point...and I think the cloud and it's shadow just makes the whole photo come to life even more. You did a really fine job capturing the 'whole' mountain....V

Where did you take this photo? It looks amazing. Since going to America i am totally capitvated by mountains. This brings it all flooding back to me. They are so beautiful and imposing you have captured its essense perfectly for me. 10/10 and in my favs.

I spent my college freshman year at a small university in Oregon... This mountain was visible from my dormitory window, long before it blew its top of course. As I'm familiar with the original, I can say that your portrait does it absolute justice.

My, how time flies. Love the dial-a-sky. Looks like the timing was perfect. Those clouds look like they are really moving. A rugged piece of beauty,now, but a terrible demonstration of the ferocity of nature a few decades ago.

This is a very impressive shot! Lovely colors and clarity. Even though I've lived in Washington my whole life, I've not yet visited Mt. St. Helens. I'm closer to Mt. Rainier, so that's where we've been the most. Your photo really gets me in the mood for a road trip ;)
