Sand, sea, sun, sugar & scenery - that's what Mauritius is all about. The cane and the volcanic mountains dominate the landscape. Again, sorry for the crappy compact camera quality but I'm still waiting for that Canon relief aid parcel to arrive....

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??
Very dramatic crags! Works very well as B&W.

Where we have come from has absolutely no bearing upon where we are capable of going.
Quite a 'clean' image, Phil.
That was my intial impression. Still is, of course ... it was what drew me in for a closer look, in other words.
Add to that, it does set the stage for the gradations of textures of those of the foreground grasses to that of the sky With a great stop along the way in the ground-covered peak.
Well-balanced composition and then some. Nice details in and about the shadows as well.
I really like the duotone presentation of the setting and scene.
Not to shabby for a compact, I'd say. Very pleasant to view ... and then some. :o)
