The choice of subject here is about a worthy one as you could want. You did indeed get a very difficult shot in good focus. I can even read the names on the wall. and most of what is in the plastic bags. But, for me, this shot is too close. I would have preferred you backed out of the shot and captured more of the moving memorial. I would like to know what it looks like overall. Pat.
I think given your images' title ... that your perspective is spot on.
It's an additionally very moving tribute, apart from the wall itself, to give thanks to those that sacrificed. I like that your photo 'tells a story.' The impact of that story will rest with the viewer. For this viewer ... really well done.
On the more technical side, the contrasts in textures are another strong element for me. Good detail and clarity. Nice work.
As a Vietnam veteran I say thank you for placing a photo with this much meaning on the site. My Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter sponsored the moving Wall here in Michigan several years ago and it is amazing the effects it has on people. Personally I have 2 friends names that are on the Wall and whether I'm am visiting the Memorial in D.C. or the moving wall their spirits are there.
