He! He! Halloween and Thanksgiving are tipically american feastdays... But Halloween begins to be celebrated in Europe.
Do you know that Halloween is a feastday of Irish origin? It came in the USA by the Irish immigrants...
No pictures for now...
Ha! Ha!... We have a typically belgian feast: the carnival of Binche
see 'http://www.mike-reed.com/Travel%20Journal/Carnaval%20de%20Binche.htm'
Enjoy :-)
Is anyone home?? I see the tracks do not go up to the building. Is this an outhouse perhaps? (not to offend) Looks like nothing else is around for miles...would be a good place for one! ;-) I love this picture. Leaves alot for the adventuresome spirit to imagine.
It's a small cottage which is used by a farmer to put machines. It's abandoned for the winter and we simply passed to side. In the Alps, these cottages are accessible to the hikers to take refuge in case of bad weather.
Thank you for that information. I love pictures that leave me guessing...but, not too long. The education I'm receiving here is as priceless as the photos themselves.
I think the tracks add to it and give it a "real" look, give a sense of the size of the building, and show the respect from the photographer to admire yet not disturb.
I know that pigeon would not stage any photo. He's too good for that. I was merely defending the tracks which previously were stated as a hindrance to the picture and I feel they give the picture a personality and story behind them. Try to picture it without the tracks and you'll probably get a sense of what I meant.
hmm i have to argue against the tracks... i think that they might take the focus off the sky and the shack and the snow... leave it simple and let your imagination decide on the size of the shack... great pic though =)
You may find this silly but,İ just realized that, the first photo i downloaded from the site happens to be this one ; )...!...And again;i JUST realized that it is yours..Dont laugh!
This is great simple scene, good angle as usual...thanks..
Fantastic picture, Pierre ! Being Dutch we have no mountains and hardly get any snow. Must be the reason why I love the stuff as much as I do. And this picture just makes me want to go out to Switzerland and ski. Thanks, Raimond
Saw Tom's rework and had to see the original! That's powder my friend and I would sure like to don a pair of boards and whisk down those slopes;-) Very attractive Pierre.
I think its fantastic as a desktop.. the dark Sky looks great and the snow looks so smoothe..also the hut looks really great with the snow on the roof.. I would of liked to see a version without the marks in the snow at the bottom of the photo (i feel it would continue this photos feeling of simplicity & smoothness) .. although it is a fantastic photo overall.. 9/10
I love it. Being in Sunny Southern California, I can only imagine what this must be like. The contrast of the blue sky against the white is nice and the cabin looks inviting to escape the cold. With the steps in the snow, someone may have decieded that it was too cold to stay out here too long. GREAT!!!
I see from one of your above comments this is a small storage building..I thought at first it was an outhouse, a convenience for trekkers, lol...anyhow, I love this one...one of the best on site, IMO, so clear, simple, and isolated.:Pat.
after looking at piner's current piece i just had to come here and look for some footsteps. i'm very glad to have found this original. i guess this means you found this scene just the way it is!!!??? where exactly was it taken? were you on foot? magnificent. jen
Hi All, if you see my initials on you latest upload you will know that I have had a good look at your photo, but at the moment, I'm getting over 200 friends a day, and I just cant keep up with you all, sorry, but I will look, but at times I wont be able to make many comments....
Nice work.
