Just wanted to share the exquisite and highly detailed carvings on the back of Nandi. This Nandi is situated Nandi Mantap infront of the Aghoreshwara Temple. The knot in the middle is called "Pavitra Gantu" which means sacred knot. this type of knot is used in jewellery designs in India.

This shot was tough to take as I had to take it from certain height and without climbing on the statue. My Nikon D5000's Vari Angle LCD monitor came to rescue and I was able to get this shot. All comments are welcome

Fabulous detail in the shot Prashanth. Nicely presented and focused. You'll have to start carrying around a step ladder to help get these shots.

In all these years of seeing Nandi statues, I have never paid attention to the stuff this close. Thanks for sharing thi picture. And you have managed to get a nice enough shot out of your acrobatic action Prashanth :) My preference would be to crop the top.

Excellent detail, P. I'm glad you got the shot.
They should have a step ladder there for photographers. LOL.

I don't need the step ladder yet, lol. I have a special option in my camera that allows me to lilt the LCD display, go into live view and take a snap as if I'm using a movie camera without using the view finder. Please check this link : Vari Angle LCD and you'll know what I mean.

Indian art is always so graceful...and this is yet another aspect of it. The camera is interesting; I will look into it.
