This shot is from the tsunami times in Sri Lanka. After few days from the tsunami the area which this shot was taken was flooded due to heavy rain over night on the Jan 1st 2005. I was on a truck filled with dry food items and cloths to help the refugees and was stuck in the middle of nowhere when the place started to flood. After few hours the water started to run low and police and the people helped us to cross the flood.

Every morning I will rest my arms a while upon the windowsill of heaven, gaze upon God, and with that vision in my heart turn strong to meet my day.

I think you captured the situation well in this photo, what a terrible time for your country. The water splashed by the truck is captured sharply, and you did a good job of composition considering you were on the back of a truck! Hope things are getting back to normal over there.

Hi Priyantha...you have managed to bring to all of us the life and the times of people in your country. You have done it in a most fascinating way, through photography. I used to think, as a yonger person, that photographs were "staged" when reporters published them in newspapers, but I now know differently. This is Life as it occurs. What a wonderfully generous soul you must have to be able to help in such horrific times such as the tsunami. This picture is well composed, has good clarity and the water breaking over the front of the Jeep is the perfect touch. Thank you for sharing your story with us who, live in a country rich with food and money and we don't have quite the conflict you do. You are much appreciated Priyantha. Thank you :~)

Great reporting photography. It is dynamic and there is some feeling of dramatism you managed to capture. Thank you for sharing the story with us. I guess such images make us realise how fragile we all are against the forces of nature.
