Since some more of the Cave temple images were requested here is another. This cave, called Devana Alut Viharaya(Second new temple), is the smallest of all shrine rooms of the Dambulla Rock Temple. This cave constitutes natural rock as the roof and four built up walls. It has a painted area of 69.52 square metres. The width of it’s roughly 6.8 metres and the length is roughly 12.25 metres. The seats of the Buddha status are built with blocks and rubble similar to those used in building the walls. There are eleven statues in this cave and the principal image is the recumbent Buddha. This image takes a more prominent place than the other ten statues, for it shows a higher degree of workmanship.

I am enjoying every particle of this image, Priyantha. First, the subject is fasnicating. Then add your composition, lighting and focus - such a wonderful image. The information is just as appealing and I'm happy you included it. - Thanks so much! - Patty

I can look at these temple shots of yours for ages, there is so much detail to take in. I wonder why the figures painted on to the walls have halos around them. At first I thought they were wearing helmets, then realised that that couldn’t be the case at all.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross

Hi Priyantha, another wonderfully gorgeous piece of your special world expressed in Priyantha's photographic art work! Very lovely indeed, I especailly like the greens in this one, blending well with the bluish golden background! I am totally without knowledge of this type of worship, but do indeed enjoy your photograhic symbolic views of it! Nice job! Sincerely, Marilyn

This is beautiful, you have really done this temple justice in your photo. For some reason i didn't think buddhism would be a big thing in Sri Lanka, so you have taught me something new! Great work, and thanks for responding to our request for more pictures of this amazing place.

Very pretty, the drawing details on the walls and the excellent lighting, the position of the staues, all create a very imposing image. U did a great job capturing this and I also appreciate your detailed description, very interesting

What a nice reportage from the place of cultural heritage, Priyantha. Thank you for the extensive intro you have provided. Great capture, as if I visited the cave temple together with you. Watching such beautiful places it is hard to imagine the horror of domestic war you are suffering in your country. Priyantha, my friend, I am sorry to hear the dramatic news from Sri Lanka. I hope you are all right, far from the regions of unrest?

Deeply concerned

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.
