This butterfly shot was taken with a new macro setup. The new setup consists of a Sigma 150mm macro lens with a Canon ring flash, mounted on a Canon 5D digital body.

With a set-up like that it should have just created the butterfly for you. That's some hefty set-up. Wonderful macro shot. Your background is really cool. That 5D is on my wish list.
Oh, that is so marvellous! The clarity is outstanding. I don't understand much about your settings, but I trust you skills. The background's color really brings out the leaf and the butterfly. Stellar work. :)
I saw that ring flash in a trade magazine I got in the mail. That is a really neat piece of equipment and you gotta be deadly serious about macros to have one. Great setup in equipment. Great capture. Looks like eveything is working right.

You make me drool with envy Robert when you post images like this......:) What a great capture of the Monarch. We have been seeing a lot of them on their way though. They look so awesome and you have used the light to your advantage. Thanks for sharing this with us :~)
Rob, this image is super sharp and has beautiful color. I wonder if he would be better represented rotated 90 degrees? Not that the shot isn't perfect as is, I just want the butterfly on top for some reason. blessings, anne :-)
Don't tell me it's good, tell me what is good about it. Don't tell me it stinks, tell me what I can do do improve it. Thank you for taking the time to tell me anything at all. Be blessed. anne :-)
How lovely it is when unexpected blessings come into my life to cheer me up and put a smile into my heart. Help me to pass them on, dear Lord. Fay Angus
