Looking north to the western end of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona this afternoon, from a parking lot just off a major E/W thoroughfare. The small thin clouds caused a 'bright shadow' where I was, while the mountains were in full sun. Cholla cactus on the right; the holes in the sahuaro are from Gila woodpeckers (pic of one in my gallery); very small light-green vertical marks on base of mountains are more sahuaro cacti.

Quite a variety of cacti in this landscape, Rick. Actually, I'm surprised by how much green there is here. I love it when you can distiguish patches of sunlight and shadow across the scene too. Those mountains look rugged and seem to have lots of green cover too. A very interesting sight, but not difficult to figure out from what part of the country this came. Beautiful shot!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

A gorgeous landscape shot Rick
Never forget how lucky You are to have scenes like these so close by. Seems You may be a little unfamiliar with clouds lol.

I love Arizona and I adore this capture! Makes a breathtaking desktop view and it's a keeper. All is perfect - the composition, details and colors, plus the wonderful shadows on those gorgeous mountains. Thanks Rick, for one of the best scenes of AZ that I have seen :^)

My favorite mountain range in my favorite desert! My in-laws used to live in the foothills of the Catalinas. This is a wonderful image of Sonora. Faved.
