In the infamous Ninth Ward in New Orleans where one of the big levee breaches occurred, I came across a yard with a gate chained shut, and the yard had several old cars in them. What was curious was that though most of the houses in the neighborhood were washed away, these old cars sat looking about as they had before the flood.

Nice capture Regmar. You sort of feel sorry for the old gale.

Art is the perception of the creator. Meaning is the perception of the viewer. acceptance is the perception of society.

wow, this is so impressive shot...so terrific, the B&W tones make it more agresive in somehow, very provokating , it give me to many thoughs, about injustice and the fear of freedom......amazing, Regmar...u r the best!!!

You know, Reg, when I was little I always used to think the old cars had an expression on their faces and this one in your image seems to also...there's a look of defiance in that grill...good choice in going with the b/w here...it really sets the mood and compliments the age of the car as well...glad it survived though sorry about the homes...a very telling shot.:Pat.

This is picture perfect. Very good image. The clarity displayed on this old rusty chain works well for the overall view. Great background used here with the car and a 10/10 from me. Exceptional work, very creative image!

Just goes to show Regmar they don't make cars like they used to. They were probably so heavy they couldn't be moved. Truly good work here with the B&W effect. It does the photo justice. Gives the feeling this could have been taken when this car was new and there was only B&W film. Nice capture of history Regmar- thank you.

Well, my dear friend, it shows us that cars were made much more solid back then, then now. And that someone loved it enough to be a bit more cautious by putting up chains and a lock..Guess it meant something to someone even after all this time. I love how the car "lurks" in the background...looks like an old Hudson? or maybe a Buick? what is it? Tell me,ok? you know I gotta know!! lol...just love this shot tho...verena

Ahh, Mel Torme's 'Don't Get Around Much Anymore'...great song, one of my mom's fav's!!

Extra exquisite shot!! The B&W work is wonderous!! And the comp itself sez sooo much. The actual subject "the car" being outta focus and the chained gate in focus speaks volumes!! 11/10 Regmar

this shot did come out really well.. the DOF is perfect here; brings focus to the fence, but keeps enough of the car to add some character.. it was an interesting adventure yesterday..

I'am impressed. The story behind the pic adds more value. Good work with the dof and the B&W.

I agree about the tremendous DOF. Also, I think BW was the way to go on this shot. Nice work.

It's a wonderful shot the car is good but what grabbed my attention was the chain it looks like you could reach out and touch it this goes into my favorites

What wonderful focus! You could have just moved and shot a pretty old car but that you included the chain turns the whole feel into that of a caged beast. The car appears in great shape while the chain looks to be the older piece. Love the gleam of the grill surrounded by all the matte materials.

i'd say im a boy, and i prefer this one, although the colour one does look very neat. tacky at first, but it grows on you. you have a great tonal range in this one

g'day Reg,

excellent compo here, b/w says it all. if you think mel torme can sing, try dr john and you can literally see the french quarter as the song progresses...

Well after seeing the new version of this, I like the color version more. However this is a good picture but I guess I'm just not a fan of B@W pics. Again this is still a nice picture.
