I shot this in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi about an hour outside New Orleans. Bay St. Louis was at the epicenter of Katrina, and everything within about 4 blocks of the beach was obliterated. This is where a lovely old house used to stand, and a trailer stands now. The residents still come here, but to somewhat reduced circumstances. I thought the contrast between the Rolls Royce and the FEMA trailer was interesting.

Regmar, so good to see you posting again and yes, what a study in contrasts with the Rolls and the Fema trailer...also the pillar which no doubt was part of the property of the lovely old house that once stood there...a thoughtful and thought-provoking scene of which there are probably several still to be found in and around NOLA...good clear shot and hope we'll see more from you.:Pat.

Due to the recent slow down of the site, my comments and thank you's have been few as it was very time-consuming...will catch up ASAP...meanwhile, a group thank you to all and keep up the great work everyone.

Yes, Katrina was not swayed by money. I find the inclusion of the pillar with a planter another symbol in addition to the Rolls. Nice commentary, Regmar, and a good shot.

Hey there my friend! So very good to see your photo...and the distinct difference of feeling that this photo is fantastic...the "fun stuff"(the RR) has a way of comin' right on back, it sure makes me realize that life does still go on, and I'm so thankful that you post these photos! I would love to hear the "story" behind the little trailer and the Rolls!! Its quite a combination of feelings, to view this shot, you've sure caused some thoughts..and that's something we can all do more of...think of the after effects of Katrina....many warm hugs to you my dear friend...Verena

Welcome back...it's been a while since we were privileged to see the world through your talented eyes. This is all you intended it to be and more and I see that you've stirred up some feelings and thought, and as Verena said, "that's something we can all do more of.."

Thanks, my friends. We've been pretty busy down here - still digging out a year and seven months later. The people who owned this car had another trailer next door with a faux-grecian facade on it and across the lintel in a faux-ancient script it read, "East Wing". Across the street was a pile of rubble with children's toys spilling out of the slabs of brick wall and onto the street. It was pretty touch and go there for about a year - didn't know if we were going to be able to keep our house, but it looks like we're going to make it. With spring in the air now I find myself with the occasional weekend day free to go shoot photos. Maybe this year I'll be able to produce some art.

At least the Rolls survived the storm. They have to rebuild their life as best they can. Interesting image. May you fair well this hurricane season.

Wow, the contrast of the RR and the trailer really makes you think what kind of house used to be there. I also find it funny thatthe owner(s) actually had time to get the car all cleaned up.
