A morning out on the lake showed me these tree stumps seeming to struggle to keep their heads above the water. It got me thinking about how things change - how the circle of life continues, and how what we take for permanent - changes in the blink of an eye. I remember when this was a forest where I would come with the old folks to fish and be with nature. Now - the old folks are gone and this forest has fallen to ruin as coastal erosion has claimed more and more of my world. How I wish we could stop this change, but I fear it is too late.

Good work Regmar. I think I would like it better in the horizontal. I realize you're concentrating on the trees that have been lost to the elements, but I think a more vast view would still give us that feeling. Just my humble opinion and my tastes. The coloring is great and a beautiful sunrise you have captured. The narrative/sentiment is just perfect.

Funny you should mention that. I actually shot a horizontal version of the image. I didn't develop it, as I didn't think that was the best way to present it. You be the judge.

Regmar: I see what you mean. What I like about the horizontal photo is the power lines and poles that show why the trees are no longer needed. Steel has replaced them. However with the narrative you chose the vertical is better. I looked through your gallery and liked similar ones that were framed. All of them are very good. Thanks for your time.

I like it better in this way because of the emptyness on the water, very serene shot:))

This shot has its own beauty presented in a quite abstract manner

Beautiful silhouettes!! I love the quiet feeling it gives me. I sure understand what you are saying Reg...I wish I could do the same. I think about the animals and their deep problems. Here in Oregon the Salmon are at risk now. There are only 20% of them left in the mighty Columbia River! The seals are devouring them!
I say ship the seals out to the Ocean, far away. I love the soft muted colours you have been able to capture here.I especially love the ripples!!! And it's so good to see your photos..have missed you a lot.Verena
