I stumbled on this bird fishing in a nearby wetland, and he seemed so intent on his fishing, that he wasn't disturbed by me. That was fortunate, because it took me about 25 shots to get one lighted well and in focus.

Appears to my eyes you have succeeded on both counts. Really helps if the subject is patient:) Nice crisp capture Regmar.

Funtabulous bird!! The backdrop seems a wee busy, which distracts from the main focal point, but not too bad. I hope he caught a nice meal!!

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

The background may be a little busy but it sure in nice. From the hint of the palm in back to the delicate plant over the water you have an excellent composition.I feel that there is enough light on the bird to keep the main subject steady. The color is beautiful.

It looks like a young one Regmar. That is why it probably wasn't too interested in you. Either that or it is a statue. lol. Very nice on the bird with the clarity. I wish the background was a little darker so as not to distract. All in all a really good photo.

Excellent Clarity Regmar.
Tick is exactly right. This is an Immature Yellow Crown Night Heron as seen HERE.
You must have Focused on the Eye. It is Perfectly Clear.

I love the light! Like a soft spotlight on his wonderful details. The surroundings are almost as interesting as he is.
