The toning you performed is a nice touch.
If I may ... and as a suggestion only ... perhaps a bump in contrast? Might aid in adding some dimensionality amongst some other stuff.

Ehh ... can't help myself ... where me and my mout... er, fingers are concerned.
If you have Photoshop (CS and above) ... try this tutorial:
"Faking the HDR thing..."
/\ Towards that of opening up the shadows some. Emphasis on the word, some.
