Shot this at this park called the "Monkey Park" in Israel, where I live. There were many monkeys ofcourse, this is one is a Moroccan monkey which lives in the cold mountains, thats why he has that kind of fur. Enjoy :D
"Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."- "I wish the Ring had never come to me.
I wish none of this had happened..." "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."-Gandalf
In the thumb he looks human in proportion and posture. Very interesting monkey, even at full screen he seems almost human. Funny how colors match up some time. Now out in the wild you can chalk it up to evolutionary adaptation to blend with surroundings. But here it must just be pure chance that the fur color and wood surroundings are so close. Great picture.
Ron, I like your photo but you do seem to have more red than normal. The composition is great and the monkey is fascinating, it always intrigues me how their feet look like hands. This ones posture is cute and amusing, it looks like he’s thinking of getting stoned or something :-)
Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink.
But if you must lie,
lie in the arms of the one you love.
If you must steal,
steal away from bad company.
If you must cheat, cheat death.
And if you must drink...
drink in the moments
that take your breath away.
Since I'm not a photography lover / artist, I can't really give this a good review. The only thing I can say is, maybe you could have not centered the monkey, but place it 1/3 × 1/3.. Funny monkey though, never seen one with that fur before
I like the expression on this little guy. The washed out background is a bit distracting. If you have a zoom function on your camera, I would suggest that you zoom in closer and shoot from a different angle where the bright sky is not part of the background. It can be tuff to get a good shot with a strong backlight from that angle. Try having the backlight directly behind the subject and meter your exposure for the shadow area. This will give the hairs a nice glow. Good capture.

A nice subject Ron and a great capture of the monkeys expression. It is of course importent to try to get the sky to come in better and this would be a fine photo if the sky were blue.A edit to darken slightly in this case would enhance this photo. Rob.
I'm guessing this is the one you requested a comment on? I don't have much to add after reading what has already been mentioned. I would have said that it would be good to see the monkey moved alittle bit to the left so we can see more of what he is looking at. Also the sky would be much prettier if it were blue as apposed to washed out. I would suggest how you could have fixed that, but im still tring to figure out what to do about that problem aswell. Lately i have been experimenting with the flash in this case and have found that if the subject is close enought it works fairly well. Perhaps it would have worked in this occasion aswell. Keep the shots coming.
Like the subject. I would suggest cropping in much closer. The wooden frame says to me "yet another zoo" rather that Heavenly Dreaming and I would get rid of as much as possible. There is a nice symmetry in the diagonals of the rope and branch and I would be use that - and straighten the photo using the vertical post as a reference. I would also give it a bit more contrast. You are up against it a bit with the back lighting - were you close enough to use fill in flash? I've sent my very quick edit to you be email.
"What other reason could there be to get up in the morning except to set ourselves free."
If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
very cute animal, the framing I think is well, but the colors are not balanced, it has an orange over all it, and the light is stronger. Just balance a little to give a less lighting and contrast the subject, plus give its real color (monkey), and it would look more great.
Hey Ron :D
Sweet shot...I love the expression on the monkey's face ^_^
It's a nice composition, too...the wooden poles almost seem to *frame* the image. Though I think the image itself could be improved with a few quick fixes - such as adjusting the contrast, etc.
But overall, great job! Well done :]
