Once known as the Ryde Queen. In service at the beginning as a ferry between Southampton and Cowes in the UK. I believe she even saw service at Dunkirk in WWII. She ended up being a floating disco/ nightclub on the Isle of Wight, at this very spot in the 1960s. A classic old paddle steamer now left to rot. I think she's too far gone for restoration now. An absolute shame. Ron.

She must have been a beauty in her days, but even in this condition she is an interesting subject for a photo. I like the textures and colors. Moody and very well taken photo!

Hi Ronald,
I agree with you, always sad to see sights like this. I would like to have seen this detailed shot in b & w. I'd like your permission to have a play with it if I may. Like you, I always think of ships to be 'living' things. I find the linkage with Dunkirk very thought provoking. Any more history to it Ron? Changing the subject, with all these shots of your Island, have you moved and realized your dream?

Surfs Up,
Stanley.

Certainly is a shame, but she's still photogenic. Perhaps even more so for being neglected. I like this, good post.
