Used for melting iron in the past. It was fueled by wood untill time made it obsolete. Only a gear in a system of gears. The work was hard tending the furnace. The pay for the work was considered good. The Civil War was fought with cannon from the Furnace. Cannon balls were also made here for the North in Pa.

nice picture, like twhat it shows.
it look a little too dusty though.
i dont know i it was supposed to be like that but wouold be nicer without it.
for the rest it is an awesome picture
