This is the classic windmill "Goliath" near the 'Eems harbour' in the province of Groningen, The Netherlands
Ron (Tick) ask me a few weeks ago, "do they build windmills at present in your country"?... Well Tick here is your answer...Yes they do , a country ful of this ugly giants !

Een goede foto John. Het scherptedieptespel is erg goed en bepaald de hoeveelheid diepte, die de foto sprekend maakt. Ja.. en het verschil van een paar eeuwen in een foto.. dat heb je mooi vastgelegd. Nu is dit een te gekke wallpapersite.. ik weet zeker dat op een fotografiesite de reacties wel eens heel interessant zouden zijn kwa techniek ect.. wederom ook erg origineel! Een posting die mij pakt vriend! Mich

Great image and it's sad to see the large turbines overtaking the old fashion wind mill. At least this way we can compare the difference in sizes

Dear friends, do not worry, the 'ugly' new windmills are not intended for anything else but to generate the renewable [clean] energy = by all means great and worthy purpose - in my opinion.
Unless somebody prefers the nuclear power plants ....

The giants maybe more efficent but they arn't as pleasing to look at. A very good image of contrast.
