Read whatever you would like into the title. For me full disclosure is to tell you that my 21 year old son is serving in the Army, 10th Mountain Division. He is back safely from 15 months in Afghanistan; with 2 years left in his enlistment he will go overseas again, although we do not know where. This picture was taken in the Veterans section of Woods National Cemetary in Milwaukee. It is near my work, so I stop by frequently to remind myself that regardless of politics, regardless of my viewpoint on the war(s) overseas, I need to honor those who are serving and have served in the past. I hope we can all agree on that point. This is not a political statement, simply a rememberance of those who have passed and a way to honor my son. The overcast grey skies matched my mood today... Rich

Nice shot, Rich. Thank your son for his service. The overcast sky adds to the image. I like the perspective, too.

Salute your son for me as well Rich. The military is all about order and discipline and this photo displays it to the nth degree. I appreciate your sentiments and I too feel a special bond for those who gave their lives so we could enjoy ours. Nice photo and great tribute. Have a good weekend Rich.

Yes, our Dutch troops are still overthere in Afganistan to. Thanks for this image. It is vital to pay homage to men who serve to give us peace at home. I did my time in the cervice in 1980 and 1981, but was not send out. Respect where respect is due. Thanks again for this wonderfull shot.

How beautiful. My friend just got back from Iraq for good. They sent him over there for much longer than he was supposed to stay. I'm just glad he's back, and I hope your son comes home soon and is very well when he arrives!

Rich, this is what we should be seeing more of. We need to thank these young men and women who are serving as often as we can. You and your son bring forth to us the quiet display of honor and pride. And though we worry about their safety, we rejoice in their return. God bless you and your son.

Nice shot, very gloomy feel to it, as should be for the sad topic. I can't imagine how hard it is to have a son in harms way like that. Hope they all come home soon.

This is definitely a gray reminder of how many have made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us. May they rest in peace.

Rich, I'm glad to hear your son made it home safely. I have had family members return from Iraq recently & like your son they will mostly likely be returning overseas. I share your sentiments that we should honor those that serve our country each & every day. A very nice capture & B/W sets the mood.

Rich, this is a lovely, though somber tribute to all of men and women who serve their country. My daughter is in the US Army and has not gone over to Iraq yet, though her father (my ex) is going next month. I agree that we should honor those who serve their country, no matter what our own feelings or political leanings may be. Thanks for such a nice tribute.
