Learning to fly...

A drastically edited version of this; one. Played with the coloring to remove the yellowish cast of the lights and sharpened it do bring out the edges. This is much truer representation of how this dramatic figure (the Calatrava Addition of the Milwaukee Art Musuem, if you haven't seen any other numerous posts of my obession before) strikes the eye at night. Tom Petty happened to be on while I was editing this one, and seemed to fit. "Learning to fly...but I ain't got wings..." It's certainly how I feel at times, both with photography and in other areas of my life. Thanx to all of you for ever so patiently providing with me tips...and thanx to one special individual for helping me to find my Wings in other ways. Honest comment and critique please.

The obsession continues. I like it GBRx3. I have never seen this but it is really enthralling. I like this color, but I liked the other one as well. I see noting to complain about so I will just say: High score deserved. "What is this post."

I think I like this one the best, Rich. Both are good, but this is outstanding.

I think this is fabulous Rich.... it really looks like it's right on the verge of lifting it's wings & soaring into the unknown. Personally I really like the flat velvet background because there's absolutely no disctraction from your main focus...that amazing blue tipped bird.

Absolutely stunning composition. Architecture is, without exception, my favorite form of art.

Come, my friends, 'tis not too late to seek a new world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite the sounding furrows; for my purpose holds to sail beyond the sunset, and the baths of all western stars, until I die. Tennyson, "Ulysses"

I think this must be a symbolic image for you... This one is so much clearer than the others and I like the color of the great bird about to take flight... I'd love to see it in person.

Rich, I'd say your efforts in reworking the original paid off. This is absolutely stunning. The lighting on this one instantly caught my eye as well as the detail. The more I see this magnificent 'bird' structure ... well, the more I want to see it in person. Outstanding work Rich.

When I looked at this for some reason I thought of Titanic, when they were standing on the front of the ship getting the feel of flying.. lol... good capture of light and composition, the black background really makes it stand out.. great work Rich
(its nice to have an angel around to help you with your wings)

Well, it seems you found what you were looking for. I've enjoyed the others of Calatrava, but this one seems special. Lighting and detail really pop against that background. I would like to see it in person.
