No look at the Savage City would be complete without a tribute to the fine men and women of Law Enforcement. They are the last defense in too many cases, called upon not just to uphold the law, but to be social workers, judge and jury in the snap of a second, and marital counselors. They are non-stop busy in the Central City, all 3 shifts, and although it seems a cliche they do indeed put their lives on the line daily as we see from this story just last month. Milwaukee is in the process of changing over from Blue and White squads to more tradtional Black and Whites...and that's not the only change. For years when a squad was behind you, the shotgun, in its holder, between the two Officers was plainly visible. Our new Police Chief has used Federal grant money to remove the shotguns from patrol cars...and replace them with semi-automatic assault rifles. There have been to many incidents in the last few years where the Police have just been massively outgunned...say a prayer tonite for all those who work to keep our Savage Streets as safe as possible...

What a fitting ending to a great series GBRx3. I feel bad for the officer who protects and serves. I think the shooting happened in the neighborhood we just visited. I feel fortunate to get out alive. That is a sad state of affairs.
I find it interesting this shot was taken at 46th St. North and the 46th Parallel North passes through Wisconsin. It also passes through all these places in the world. There are a lot of cities that parallel yours, whether we like it or not. Great series in both photo and word.

When I see a scene like this, my heart skips a few beats, because it usually means something terrible has happened, or IS happening. Even though this is outside a precinct, a lot of police cruisers gives me a chill. Ya know what I mean? Nice post, Rich.

Wonderful tribute~ this one caught my eye. Recently (April 4) the city of Pittsburgh(my home) lost 3 officers gunned down on a domestic call. This capture is such a fitting part of city life. Great work!
