Life in the Central City is no game for these kids. The stats tell us that 52% of the kids in the top picture will drop out before graduating High School. 44% of the African Americans will be incarcerated by the time they turn 25. For many years Milwaukee had the highest teen pregnancy rate in the country...now we are second worst. The top picture is the playground full of children with boundless energy, potential and hope. The bottom is what that same playground becomes if you remove the percentage of at risk kids. In the richest Country in the world how can we let those children disappear from sight ?

The other thing I positively hate is letting these kids play right next to a street like that. I know, in the context of what you;'re talking about my concern is so trivial, but all I can see is broken noses & bones. And yet, not to trivialize our very real problems & concerns, people in countries such as the Sudan are... whenever able, struggling back to some sort of education & housing, & yes businesses. If these people, some in countries torn apart by horrendous wars that we can only pray we never see....if they can struggle on 500.00 a year to a success... why can't we ?

We can & we should.

Talk about a hard-hitting narrative to accompany a photo, this is one GBR. It is a shame that people are removed from society as easily as you used your clone tool. We are in the midst of hard times and there doesn't appear to be anything on the horizon but more storms. When UPS and FEDEX are used to notify people their hard work and dedication is not needed any longer, we have gone too far. When you take the cream off the top, you are supposed to make ice cream and share. Anyone raised on a farm knows this. Too bad Greed Mountain never shared that philosophy. Great shot and such a good visual reminder.

Well, and then let's think about the people who stand on street corners pretending they need money for food, when we've all seen them go get drugs or alcohol with it. THere are jobs, they might be menial, but they are jobs, and a little money helps.
But people need a community. To share, to help, to guide. Again, I will say it's the children that pay for the things so called adults do. I think you showing a photo and then writing tells a lot, instead of just having a few comments with an avie in the discussion boards. Thanx again.>Verena

Much of the beauty in life is found in people who care.

Wow Rich, it's so terrible that children have to play so close to a street. Wow that's some awful percentages my friend.
