I believe that's a tobacco moth, the scourge of agricultural regions in North America. I found one of those once that was about 2 inches long and very fat. It sat docile while I approached it and picked it up. A few minutes later I discovered why: It began to lay eggs - about 50 of them, large, brown, sticky, and extremely hard. Maybe you should look at the side of the house, and see if there are eggs there.
