Was wandering the backstreets of Rotterdam and found this door some how it seemed out of place.

Very artistic looking photography, love the light in the ivy and the different tones of green, also the brick work with it's split colours. The door might once had been a loading dock yes?

Rob - It looks as though the door hasn't been opened recently, perhaps the first step is a deterrent! You capture urban / industrial scenes so well. Thad

Excellent details, Rob. I like the way the ivy is trying to hide the blue door. A nice find and a fine photo.

It is probrably a secret doorway into a fairy tale land Rob. You should go through it and see if you end up in Narnia or Never Never Land. LOL! A very good find and capture.

I like the way the ivy is taking over the entire side of the building Rob. Right now the pattern is good. Before long there will be nothing visible but the Ivy.
Good post.

Just a couple of quick comments, Rob. First of all, what's the deal with the ivy in Rotterdam. Last week it was eating a bicycle. This week it's devouring the entire building. If I lived there, I'd keep my windows locked at night. You don't want to wake up and find out that half of you is already engulfed by a ravenous ivy plant. That stuff is starting to remind me of The Day of the Triffids.

Is it my imagination, or is somebody playing a practical joke on the next guy who exits the blue door? This is one of those "You can't get there from here" sort of shots. I guess they don't want any uninvited visitors, and building a moat was too expensive. I guess this is a modern day drawbridge.

The subject matter is typical Rob-esque. You seem to have an uncanny ability to find the oddest sights in town. The detail work is splendid in your image. I was going to say that the only thing that's missing is rust, but I see some rust in the ventilation duct. Faved and a solid 8.732 when I see it in the VB.

I can see why the scene caught your eye. I guess the ivy feels it is out of place as well, it seems to be trying to wipe it out of existence. lol I so enjoy the contrasts of color and texture. Very nice!

Another great urban find on your journey through the rough underbelly of the backstreets and alleys of Rotterdam. Good textures and colours in the photo. Nicely done.

The difference between a bad artist and a good one is: the bad artist seems to copy a great deal; the good one really does. ~William Blake
