I've been trying to get a good angle on shooting these blooms for ages, but never got a shot I'm entirely happy with. The long stalk projecting towards the lens isn't much bigger than a pinhead on the end. The whole flower, from tip to base, is about an inch & a half long and a deep, fire engine red. The shot is actually desaturated slightly to bring out a little more detail. This shot also demonstrates the incredibly shallow DOF of the MP-E 65 lens at high magnification. It was taken at f/14 and about 2x-3X, but the only part that's in focus is the tip of the stalk. It really limits compositional choices, but when it's in focus, the resolving power of this lens is just phenomenal.

This is a really cool macro. It almost looks like a colorized electron microscope shot. Nice work!
