Shot at 3X. This structure is about the size of a pencil eraser. I took a similar shot that had better focus on the front edge, but lacked detail in the middle. That's the heartbreak of shallow DOF.

Because the plane of focus is so thin, just my heartbeat is enough to jiggle the picture and ruin the shot. I need to anticipate where the focus will be, not where it is. That fraction of a second between thought and action makes all the difference.
