Holyyyy.. crapperz ... is this one tack sharp within the DOF.

The hoverfly's eye is amazing.


Caveats?

Part of me wants to see your image simplified some.

As in, losing the white'ish part of the bloom in the lower left-hand section. Not sure if it gives some, or more context overall ... or, is a slight distraction?


Still and with that said, the 'eye has it' ... here. And then some.

It is an awkward crop, no doubt about it. And small portions of the left side are blown out too, but I didn't want to crop it too tightly and make it even more awkward. I'm content with these shots sometimes being more forensic than artistic because, well, hey it's a fly. I'll try to do better with the next one.

After reading Les's comment I too checked out your largest resolution...what an eyeful!...amazing clarity and detail...super macro shot.

Russ, you know I'm a fan. I think you do a wonderful job blending an artistic and forensic view of your subjects.
