I get your point, Russ. I viewed this full screen and it's quite impressive. That insect may need a pair of eye glasses. Bravo.

That is a neat composition, dear Russ.
From my point of view it looks as if this is slightly, but really slightly, just a tad, tiny bit manipulated ... :)
Lovely little short-sighted fly.

Thank you, everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the shot.

Marzena, color saturation & contrast were boosted while processing the RAW file. And the jumping spider was selectively sharpened over the rest of the picture, which is probably why it looks manipulated. Because it is. Thanks for the heads-up about overdoing it. I'll learn from that.

Sometimes you wonder if a picture is worth sharing, or if it's too terrifying - yikes!!!!!

Excellent entry.

Had I known it was a spider ...?! Forgot to count them legs, my fault, silly woman.
Hereby I withdraw my positive attitude from the comment ! LOL

Thank you both for the comments. I'm in partial agreement with you about spiders. Face to face, they can give me the creeps too. But, that doesn't mean I'll stop shooting them or admiring the excellent work of other macro photographers who do. And jumping spiders are really fascinating things to watch, not just for their apparent intelligence, but they're also some of the most colorful creatures in the animal kingdom.

Nice sharpness in the focus on the spider and DoF in the image. Lovely colours and composition in the photo. Best of luck in the contest.
