A three shot test panorama using shift on the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II tilt/shift lens. The pictures were taken from a tripod at one of my favorite spots at the local arboretum. Since only the lens moves, not the camera sensor, theoretically all the shots should align perfectly in Photoshop. In reality, there was a bit of mismatch due to parallax and probably some residual vibration in the tripod from my using the self-timer instead of a remote. The area shown could be covered by only two shots using only left & right shift, but parallax becomes noticeable. Three shots seems to be the minimum for a relatively seamless composite, and five shots would probably be better. This posted version is only 3200 pixels wide due to most website's size limitations, but the original is 9145 pixels wide, about a 60% width increase over the Canon 6D's normal 5472 x 3648 resolution. Shift can also be used vertically for huge portrait style images. By using shift, this lens can produce image sizes that equal those from a medium format camera. Oh, and for those interested enough to read this far: 1/100 sec, f/8.0, ISO 200. The three RAW shots were processed together.
