This is a quarry for laterite stones. As the laterite stones are cheaper than the other bricks, most of the houses and other buildings are being constructed widely here. After removing the uppermost part of the selected area,the indurated varieties are some times cut into blocks and used as brick stones for house and other buildings.

What a good shot this is, very interesting. It reminds me of our peat bricks. Is the earth compacted before its quarried?

That looks too much like work for me.
I spent 4 years as a mason and those blocks look like they are heavy.
I am not sure I would want to be around that blade when it's turning.
Buy those guys a beer for me.
