Because of the high demand of cooking gas, most of the villagers are still using the firewood.Usually firewood is sold by volume and can also sold by weight. The woodcutters from the neghbouring state are 'experts'in this hard work. A scene from my village.
This shot screams, "Contrast!!!!" In the foreground I see 5 workers who are probably dressed the same way they dressed for work centuries ago wearing sandals and no shirts. The axes look so very different from the ones in my shed. My axes and mauls have unbreakable yellow fiberglass handles and are made of tempered steel sharpened at the factory. By comparison, these implements seem antiquated although they seem functional. In the background are some fine looking modern vehicles. Maybe it's me, but it seems like a huge contradiction.
Great shot and so very different from life in California. Thanks for sharing and thanks for being my personal copy of National Geographic magazine.
