This lil bird fell from his nest which was quite high up in a tree at Shiajori Gardens. The poor thing just sat there, it's mom in the nest doing nothing?! He can't fly yet, so unless momma helps him, he won't be going far. I would have tried to help, but I have been told that touching them makes their own kind reject them. So I had to settle for taking a pic and asking the kids around to steer clear of the poor thing.

Poor little thing, I bet it was scared out of its whit. Sad that mamma didn't come help, maybe she was waiting for everyone to leave. You did great with this capture though. I especially like the framing you used, it's wonderful. Thanks for sharing this little one.

Oh, gosh, so cute. I have a terribly soft spot for birds and dogs, and an even softer spot for their young... My suggestion would have been to use some natural material... But then again, you could have scared it to death, or the nest is too far, and etc... Whenever I stumbled onto something like this, there was very little I could do. But then, their mamas usually were hopping around them, trying to lead you away.

You did right to leave him alone! His mother will take excellent care of him. It is perfectly normal for most birds to leave their nest about 10 days before they can really fly. It is the most dangerous period of their life, but still best to let nature take its course; the bird has the optimal chance of long-term survival that way.

Very cute pitcure, too!

I recall this happened in the empty block next door to us... my brother returned two or three chicks to their nest, the parents dive bombed the whole time, I guess they thought he was trying to eat them or something. Then the next morning we awoke to hear one of them chirping outside the door... apparantly it now thought he was their mother... and the parents followed it and tried to dive bomb anyone who dared step out the door... I guess the moral is, yes, leave them be and let nature take it's course!!!

PS from memory I think all the chicks survived and we believe they eventually had their own broods in the same block after a few years.

This is a sad story and I hope the poor little guy is alright but this is a great picture. I really like the framing you have used and am glad that you did not put a massive boarder around the hole thing. I hate massive boarders.

Well done

Although i wouldn't have thought of manipulating the image you have, when i view this at full it all seems to come together and work nicely. The simplified area around the bird almost represents the dangerous world around it, and how vulnerable it is in such a position.

Picture Purrrfect . A purrrfect world is what we all want, but, seems too unobtainable. If I've viewed and commented on your post, and you liked my remarks then NO THANKS is needed...just getting to see your wonderful work is thanks enough for me!! Also BIG thanks to all who check out my work!! I appreciate any and all comments & feedback!!

Oh Sandy, how sad this happened to this baby. I do hope the Mama returned for it . I had the same thing happen to me with a baby Mockingbird. Fortunately, the Mama did return to get it. I really like how you've centered the attention on it with your effect.
