Another of Dads medals, this one is also from the French, I also would like to think this is of interest to my American and Canadian friends, lets face it, they were all there in France. Canon EOS 400D - Sigma 70mm 1:2.8 DG Macro. This was my first go with this new lens, cant wait to do some foofies with it soon.

Super shot again Mark. Yes indeed, those medals came at a price. No one really understands just how much anymore either.

I too salute him, and his comrades on this very famous operation. This is some medal to have my friend. They were very brave men indeed. On this operation alone there were a total of 46,000 killed and 173,000 wounded or missing. More information

Your Dad done his bit, & was a man of honour who you could easily identify with. I lost my father early in life, he escaped nazi germany as a boy by the seat of his pants without his mother after his father died in a work camp.

Like you I have some of his personal belongings too, you were fortunate to have known your Dad so long. :o)

Very nicely done Mark and another great tribute to your Dad. He really was a distinguished soldier wasn't he? I like the way you've got lots of depth in this despite the fact that it's a two-dimensional object. Nestling it in textiles like that was a great idea. I salute your Dad.
