Old worn friends...

I remember being age 14 and having just learned how the chess pieces moved. I went to the local mall which had a B'Daltons book seller. I found my first chess book....up to that point I didn't even know there were books on just the game itself. Now I'm 42, and from time to time I still page over these old friends, remembering the thrill of that very first chess book. The only memories that are sweeter still is the first loves....odd the way we measure our lives...anyhow, I hope you all get a sense of my description...it's hard to capture a feeling but thats why I like photography. Much easier than using words alone.

I know the feeling of seeing these things as old friends. I have just a half-shelf of chess books (never having mastered the game to any reasonable degree), and they are getting crowded out by equally ancient Bridge books. I love the sepia rendition of these books, and the hodgepodge arrangement (looks so familiar!) of the volumes.
