I shot this flower in early June (N. Utah) and, while the focus was a bit off, I thought it could be an interesting close up with a little photoshop work. Hope you enjoy.

Interesting idea of alternating color and B&W. It caught my eye in the New Images gallery. I see this is your first post... well done! Hope to see more :)

Welcome to Caedes. A nice creation using color & monotones ~ I especially like the softness of the petals. Looking forward to more of your work.

I am trying to visualize what rotating your image here, and then having the placement of the backgrounds' flower(?) in the lower right hand corner would do to the overall visual impact.

Oops ... caught me thinking ... er, typing out loud here. :oD

And forgive me for just jumping right in ... that aspect alluded to above, hmmm ... intial thought was to clone it out, keeping the background uncluttered and not draw any attention away from your focal subject.

Then, the thought was ... offset placement might be better to kick up the visual interest? And that really is only a suggestion, not a critique, I can respect you taking some artisitc licence.

Then ... maybe 'you' could keep it (referencing that background element once again here) ... just change the orientation as suggested.

Having said allll that ... my verbosity tendencies coming through here :oP ... nice creative choice, presentation and 'save'. And by save, I am referring to your own misgivings about the soft focus.

And finally ... let me add my own welcome here ... have fun and look forward to your next images. :o)

I appreciate the comments and suggestions (also the kind welcome from all). This was a fun shot to work with, even with the "soft" focus.

Purmusic, I'll give your suggestions a try and see what happens. Thanks!
