I like the angle of your perspective and the surrounding location. Though I wonder if choosing another time of day may enhance the building more.

I agree about the need for more cropping and the backlight (which can be very effective, but not so here). Perhaps you should apply the rule of thirds and adjust the building slightly off-center. I think you might want to try again with more light filtering in from the left or right at about 45 degrees, if possible. The wide angle is effective with an imposing building like this, but with less forground to distract.
