Growing up in Oregon, I knew rain as gentle and persistent. When I came to live in Virginia, I understood rain to be something quite different. There is the day that gets increasingly hot and humid, then the dark clouds and thunder come all at once, the wind blows off leaves and small branches, then the lightening, and, at last, the deluge. Water pouring down with great force, overflowing the gutters and the drains. And suddenly it is all over. And the fireflies come out. For this pic I was standing under the roof eve, watching the mini-waterfall in front of me; the gutter is overflowing. Thanks for looking and especially thanks to any who comment. I welcome all your good advice! Nikon Coolpix 2000.

I took some in the rain today too. Didn't turn out this detailed and refreshing. Exudes a familiar mood.

Beautiful shot ... colors are rich and right-on. I, too, grew up and lived most of my life in Oregon. I now live in the Texas hill country and the wet weather here is about identical with your Virgina weather. I don't believe the word drizzle is used a whole lot around here.

Interesting story. I believe I prefere more to stay here in Italy, even if in my town up to mountains around Rome, are more rainy than normal.

I really like Afternoon Thunderstorm. These are the type of days I like to take off from work and sit on my front porch with a cup of joe and just watch the rain.

Oh Sharon how lucky and blessed you must feel to have a view as that everyday and not just the rain, the plants and trees are just a site to see. Here in West Texas we do not see to many trees unless a home owner goes out of their way to plant them we call this farm country and we see mostly cotton and peanuts in the land then when the land is not planted we see dirt, when the wind blows we see dirt lol.
I sometimes wonder what it would be like just to live in a place to where you have scenery as nice as yours, your image speaks very softly says enjoy the splended view and our smells which I can imagine our very nice especially after the rain.
