It is 6:30 on a Saturday morning, and four of the "Hyperion Faithful" have already gathered, unwilling to begin this day, or any day, without a cup of coffee from this establishment, which opens at 7:00AM. (I couldn't wait, had already gotten my coffee from McDonald's). The Star Building, originally housing a very early newspaper and is now the home of Hyperion Expresso, was built (they say) in 1786. Around the corner you can see the spire of the Fredericksburg Baptist Church, built in 1855, which will host another "gathering of the faithful" the following morning. This area received Union cannon fire in the Battle of Fredericksburg during the Civil War. It is amazing how many of these old buildings have been preserved and are used for businesses and, in the upper stories, for apartments. Thanks for coming to take a look.
