This small, but lovely, old church is beside the Rappahannock River in King George County, VA. There are services here twice a month, and it is very popular for weddings, as I'm sure you can imagine! It was built in 1859, although the cemetery was in use by 1803. The church was damaged by Federal soldiers in the Civil War. There is a story that a Union soldier began to play the organ and felt so at home in this little church that he persuaded his comrades not to destroy it. Now it is a place of peace and, to me, intense goodwill... a good place for a quiet interlude. Thanks for coming to take a look!

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

So enjoyed the story of the soldier. A wonderful history. Very nicely composed, the tree adds a nice compliment. The church appears in excellent condition.
