I took this picture on a brink of sunset on a beach in northern Israel. The father and son fishermen had just finished their daily routine and were heading back to their village. I experienced with various exposure times until I got the result I was aiming for. I wasn't looking for detail in this shot. I was trying to capture the last rays of sunlight outlining the fisherman son's body. Longer exposures added detail to the subjects' faces, but were somewhat less interesting for me.
To me this image is about setting a mood and it does it very well.
When shooting water and other images that have straight vertical and or horizontal lines, it is important to portray them as such. That is the only thing that detracts from the beauty of this image. As it is now your subjects appear to be sliding out of the photo. Remember to keep those horizon lines straight.
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.
