This is another image from my Varanasi series, at a higher resolution for those that asked. The Ganges is a huge river crossing literally thousands of miles. It is extremely holy to Hindus. This image taken shows just how beautiful, calm and serene the shoreline is very early in the morning as the sun rises. It is interesting to note that there is nothing on the other side of the river.

appreciate the higher res :-) , i love the clarity of the foreground building/boats, but as you go round the curve of the river it disappears into the distance. there seems to be so much going on here, even early in the morning. a fascinating and enjoyable series, i look forward to more.

Thanks Jo for the advice and warm comments. I could post a lot more of Varanasi, it was a magical place, with much character.

Hi David, I like this shot very much. The composition of the way the boats are and the nice sunlight on those lovely buildings is very very nice.I love the reflections, and the sky is just right too. All in all, you've taken a beautiful photo. Verena
