i was drawn to this not for its intrinsic beauty but rather-as i see it-its character.it seems to be asserting itself in a hostile environment all on its own.this to me symbolizes bravery against all odds.i am not expecting a high c-rating(that's not the point).to me this "foofy"makes a statement i can relate to.

I like your thoughts on this solitary rose. It looks like a hidden beauty there.

You have to admire anything beautiful that survives regardless :-)

Oh, I agree with you. I think that there are many images in life that remind us of the struggle that we all have to go through. My post "Courage" points this up as well. Lovely rose and the thought behind it is more than worthy!

Are You going soft man ? I jest with You sir. :o). Yes it's in a barren location but doesn't it bring good cheer !! Rather than reflect on the solitary/hostile view I prefer to enjoy a positive view of a rose lightening up a drab view.

Life's around said Phil the 35 millimetre cameraman. I recently went to the doctors, and said I've got icon fever, but he told me there was no cure for the disease.

I concur, my friend. The solitary rose is a symbol I can wholly identify with.

Ah, but roses are so tough - their beauty belies their strength :)
I like the delicacy of this image - it has a certain sadness to it as well - this rose needs to be surrounded by more roses -
