Taken with my 50mm prime lens, I did try adding colour to the sky but I just couldnt get it right, so I decided to Post it the way it was. Only processing was contrast and a light softening. I thought it had a sort of painted quality about it. I have been debating about posting this for a while so I would been keen for some critiques. All comments welcomed.

I have to agree with you Bri, it does have the feeling of a painting, really like the reflections and textures

I understand your ambivalence, but I am glad you posted it. Love the diverse tree lined shorelines. The softness does add to the painted feeling. The only thing I could recommend is possibly cropping a bit more sky, so the focus is more toward the shores.

Very, very nice photo, Bryan!!! The sky is fine like it is, that is the reallity of how the sky looks many days. The softness of the trees and the colors are really gorgeous. I also really like how the water leads your eye into the image and then makes a curve in the end. Great shot and presentation. I wouldn't change a thing about it.

This is a great shot but you're right about the sky. It knocks the balance out. Try using a neutral grad filter next time (or this time in Photoshop).

The first thing I thought of when I saw this was a lake just down the road where my grandparents live. It's also where my brother tried to teach me the fundamentals of driving. I really, really wish I had been able to take a shot of it the last time I visited. This is a good substitute.
I think the sky is fine, I didn't even notice the power lines across the tops of the trees until I really began to examine it. When I saw them I knew you'd made a good call on it.
Btw: this is now the background on the family computer. Thank you.
