This is a very small portion of the full frame, and a picture of my
youngest granddaughter, Brittany.
Really an experiment, to see just how far I could push the cropping process, and retain a moderately good image.
I don't think this is overcropped, but she is very close to being in the center of the image, the image quality is fairly low because of the small part of the frame you mentioned, and I don't really like borders. But that is just me. Quite an excellent picture, really.

Actually you did very well & I have to agree with JoAnn that the cropping was pushed to far. I tend to be on the the conservative side when it comes to cropping, but that is my preference. All in all it was a great experiment & you have a lovely granddaughter.

MY GALLERY
well when i look at the small preview of the picture it's obviously still pretty good quality, but it significantly degrades when you open it up to view at full size. not too terribly bad though. what camera did you use to take this shot?
I like the very soft image of Brittany you have presented. She's a beautiful young lady. I don't see anything wrong with this personally. Very nice Doug.
She didn't look too happy when this shot was taken, seems as if she were a bit unsure and not feeling very comfortable. But that's not the topic....
Your framing doesn't work well here in my opinion, it takes away from the image. Maybe if it was in a contrasting color like black then I would like it more. Regarding the detail I don't find this portrait cropped too much, I like the reduction on certain parts of a face, not fully showing it with hair and background. It's more interesting this way...
I feel like I am fading. I've lost the Holy Ground. Maybe there's a chance, that the lost will be found.
If you saw a possum on the side of the road, would you too?
Very lovely young lady! May I make one suggestion? Go back to this orginal photograph and adjust the levels using deep, rich color tones then add a small amount of Edge Preserving Smooth to it and see what it looks like.
I envy her youthful skin....that aside, I do like this image pushed to it's extreme. You have the glow of a soft focus lens working here and I like the highlight/shade contrasts. I don't think the frame is necessary, her hair does that beautifully.
