These are Milkweed seeds, as they burst from their pod. The seeds are individually surrounded by the silky filiments, which, when they dry thoroughly, the wind will carry them away.

Doug... this is so beautiful... I love how the silky filiments shine in the sun. The wind takes them away helping the plant to spread its seeds, isn't it? :)
Great job with this pic, I like it very very much!

Great capture of catching the milkweed as it is bursting. I use to call the silky filaments "angels" as the wind carried them away. Nice colors & composition.

Good color space on the image on the whole. The sky make a lovely background. Good in details too.

Great, Doug, very sharp and clear. Great lighting to make the filiments sparkle and outstanding color too. Interesting and unusual choice of subject.

That is an amazing shot Doug. Funny though, my 8 year old was just recently studying how seeds move around and replant themselves in his second grade class.
I will make sure he sees this picture.
